The Federal Act on Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (NarcA) prohibits the production, import, export, distribution, and consumption of cannabis. However, since 2013, possession of small quantities of cannabis (less than 10 grams) has been considered a minor offense and is punishable only by a fixed fine of CHF 100.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_pilot_project_in_the_canton_of_Zurich\"><\/span>The pilot project in the canton of Zurich<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The pilot project <strong>implemented in the canton of Zurich aims to explore the advantages and disadvantages of a controlled cannabis sales system. The initiative will allow consumers to purchase cannabis in state-approved stores.
