Medical cannabis: a controversial topic in France
Unlike other countries such as Canada, Chile, Germany, and the Netherlands, France is struggling to adopt flexible legislation regarding medical cannabis. Although authorization for its use was granted in 2021, the debate remains heated regarding its widespread adoption in France. The city of Angers is no exception, with several ongoing projects involving cannabis and CBD (cannabidiol). An Angers-based company pioneering the development of medical cannabis Since 2020, the Angers-based startup DelleD – LaFleur has been working on creating a sector for the cultivation and production of cannabis flower-based medicines for patients facing therapeutic dead ends. While French legislation has recently become more flexible on this subject, the company is continuing its research to meet the growing demand for medical cannabis in France.
DelleD – LaFleur’s objectives:
To develop an experiment with therapeutic cannabis in France;

CBD made in Vendée: the gamble of two young entrepreneurs
Angers is not the only city in the region interested in CBD. Two young entrepreneurs from Vendée recently launched their own line of cannabidiol-based products, with a focus on local production. In their fields in Vendée, they cultivate industrial hemp from which essential oils rich in CBD are extracted.

An ethical and environmentally responsible approach. Vegepolys Valley: a pop-up shop to showcase CBD innovations in Angers
To raise public awareness of the many uses of cannabidiol,
- Vegepolys Valley, an agricultural competitiveness cluster located near Angers, organized a pop-up shop in April 2023 dedicated to innovative uses of CBD. More than fifty products were presented, ranging from food supplements to quinoa from Anjou enriched with CBD.
