YSUB's bold Finnish advertising campaign to shake up the CBD scene in Europe!

YSUB Finnish advertising campaign

YSUB , a company specializing in CBD beverages , is fully committed to highlighting the challenges facing the cannabidiol market. To this end, they recently launched a unique campaign centered on the concept: “not for sale .” CBD.fr applauds the originality and brilliance of this bold advertising campaign and invites you to discover it below in a few lines.

The summary

Irony surrounding a ban

Facebook banned our advertising account because we used #CBD in some social media posts. We haven't advertised or sold CBD drinks on Instagram, and therefore, the account closure seems arbitrary and unfair. Since advertising on our main channel is no longer possible, we've decided to take a chance and get creative on a more traditional channel.

An advertisement, an awareness campaign, a silence that comes to an end!

We have the CBD drink ready, but for regulatory reasons, we can't sell it in Finland or other Nordic countries. With this campaign, we wanted to spark discussion and raise awareness about CBD and legal cannabis in general. Using CBD and hemp as wellness products and using cannabis recreationally are two completely different things. That's what we're trying to emphasize.

"We believe we need to campaign to normalize CBD in the eyes of the Nordic consumer.".

Is common-sense legislation on the horizon?

It's difficult to navigate when the rules differ from one country to another. The EU single market should treat all businesses and consumers equally. When it comes to CBD, this isn't the case.

CBD is considered a prescription drug in Finland, contrary to the EU principle of free movement of goods, which applies to CBD as clearly stated by the ECJ. There is a risk that the Finnish Medicines Agency will maintain CBD's medical status even if the EU classifies it as food.

There should be an open and coordinated effort to harmonize CBD legislation across the EU. There is a risk that even after the approval of new CBD-based foods, member states will refuse to enforce the regulations, forcing businesses and consumers to navigate a completely confusing mix of national laws within the single market. We need a predictable path to clear rules for businesses and greater protection for consumers.
