Cannabis ( CBD ) cultivation has three main methods. In another article on this blog, we discussed indoor growing. Today, we're focusing on outdoor growing . So, what exactly is it? What are its main advantages?

Understanding the outdoor growing method

To make sure we're all on the same page, let's start by explaining the term " outdoor." Simply put, in French, this means outdoor cannabis. In other words, here the plants are grown the old-fashioned way, in a natural environment. This could be your garden, for example, or even a larger area in the forest.

What makes outdoor cannabis cultivation ? Here, the grower doesn't need to control everything, as we discussed in our article on indoor cultivation. They simply choose the location and plant their cannabis. Nature takes care of the rest: lighting, temperature, nutrients, humidity, and so on. Although this doesn't preclude the grower from intervening in some of these aspects.

Are all cannabis varieties suitable for this cultivation method? The answer is yes. In fact, of the three main cultivation methods, it is the oldest. Outdoor cannabis cultivation dates back thousands of years. And it's not going away anytime soon.

Does this method require any special tools? Once again, the answer is yes. It's a planting method, just like any other, whether small or large. Therefore, you will inevitably need certain tools to prepare the soil and maintain it, if necessary.

What are the advantages of the outdoor method?

Growing cannabis outdoors has its advantages. We'll mention the main ones and point out that this list isn't exhaustive. First, given its traditional nature, it's easy. You don't need to be an expert in fertilizers, lighting, or temperature control to succeed. Nature does almost all the work for you.

Furthermore, the harvest quantity is significantly greater. With indoor and greenhouse , for example, you have space constraints. However, in this case, these constraints are absent. Therefore, your plants can stretch as much as they want. The result: a more abundant harvest. Moreover, by choosing a suitable location for the variety you wish to cultivate, you obtain high-quality flowers.

Finally, it is certainly the most environmentally friendly of all. You have less impact on the environment by opting for this natural method. Fertilizers and other toxic products are used less.
